Cyril Joseph Boes 1918-2007

Cyril Joseph Boes, 89, of Fontanelle died Saturday Nov. 10, at Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield. The Rev. Mike McLaughlin will officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery. Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield is in charge of arrangements.

Cyril Joseph Boes, son of Joseph and Appolonia (Waltz) Boes was born Oct. 11, 1918, in rural Breda. On Aug. 25, 1943, Cyril married Elsie Sanders in St. Francis Catholic Church in Maple River. Cyril farmed his entire working life, first in Carroll County and in Adair County beginning in 1970.

Cyril is survived by his wife Elsie of Fontanelle; children, Glen (wife Marsha) Boes of Norwalk, Carol (husband Larry) Ricke of Parkersburg, Leroy (wife Dee) Boes of Carroll, Allen (wife Barb) Boes of Clive, Lynette Feld of Carroll, Steve (wife Helen) Boes of Winfield, Ill., Jim (wife Lynn) Boes of Adel, Barb (husband Neil) Merryman of Urbandale, Jack (wife Becky) Boes of Fontanelle, Mary (husband Rick) Downing of Denver, Colo., Joe Boes of Fontanelle, and Lisa (husband Todd) Sullivan of Broken Arrow, Okla.; brother Rufus (wife Doris) Boes of Carroll; sister Hilda Laha of Muscatine; 37 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Cyril was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Edna Ziegmann, Ermina Trammel, Johanna Doyle, Alvina Eischeid and Annabelle White and one brother, Vincent Boes.
