A Mass of Christian Burial for Dale Poeppe of Emmetsburg was Monday, Aug. 12, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev Clem Currans was celebrant.

Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. Military rites were conducted by members of V.F.W. Post #2295. The Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Dale George Poeppe was born Sept. 7, 1943 in St. Anthony's Hospital at Carroll, the son of Albert John and Julia Florina (Nieland) Poeppe. He was a graduate of St. Ellen's Grade School and Emmetsburg Catholic High School. Following his education, he worked for Hawkeye Fertilizer, and in 1965, Dale was drafted into the United States Army. He served in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1967. Dale again worked with Hawkeye Fertilizer, later Emmetsburg Grain Company, and shortly thereafter, he began farming. He raised grain and Duroc hogs. Dale farmed with his brother Ken until 1986, and he helped neighborhood farmers until his retirement.

On July 19, 1975, Dale was united in marriage to Belle Marlene Bradley in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The couple made their home in Emmetsburg where they raised their four children.

Dale and Bea PoeppeDale was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and all sports. He loved to spend time with his family, and he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.

On Aug. 9, 2012, Dale passed away at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. He was 68.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bea of Emmetsburg; two daughters, Bernadette Michelle Merrill (Gary) of Algona and Cynthia Marie Poeppe of Emmetsburg; two sons, Albert John "A.J." Poeppe (Nicole) and Charles Roger "Chuck" Poeppe, of Emmetsburg; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Poeppe (Alvina) of Eagleville, MO and Kenneth Poeppe (Ruth) of Emmetsburg; five sisters, Dolora Brincks of Carroll, Fern Dobbins (Ken) of Emmetsburg, Phyllis Lindsey of Laurens, Pat Metzger (Howard) of Estherville, and Zeline Gappa (Joe) of Emmetsburg.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Patrick Poeppe; and his sister, Sister Anita Poeppe, FSPA.
