Donald E. Lillig 1944-1979

ALBERT CITY—Requiem mass for Donald E. Lillig, 25, of Albert City, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Columbkille's Church, Varina. The Rev. Walter Bruch will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda, where rosaries will be recited Monday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Mr. Lillig died unexpectedly Friday evening of a heart attack.

He was born at Albert City on June 4, 1944, to Math and Mary Schnetter Lillig. With the exception of a period in the armed forces, he spent his life on a farm near Albert City. He attended school in Varina and graduated from Pocahontas Catholic High School.

He was married on Aug. 9, 1969, to Rita Nieland of Carroll, at St. Lawrence Church, with Msgr. Henry B. Karhoff officiating. He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving with his wife is his mother, Mrs. Mary Lillig of Varina. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother Ronald, and an infant brother.
