Elenora Steffes Mueggenborg, 87, of Kingfisher, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital.

A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday and Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher. Burial will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Mrs. Mueggenborg was born July 22, 1920, to Ben and Emma [Beyerink] Steffes in Iowa, one of ten children.

She met her husband Peter Mueggenborg in Iowa where he was engaged in migrant work in the corn harvest with his brother, Paul. Peter married Elenora and Paul married Elenora’s cousin in 1944 and the two couples returned to Kingfisher to make their home.

Elenora was a housewife and assisted in the couple’s farming operation.

Survivors include three sons. Mark Mueggenborg and wife, Karen, Phillip Mueggenborg and Gary Mueggenborg and wife, Gerry, all of Kingfisher; two daughters, Corrine Mueggenborg of Tucson, Ariz., and Margaret Linstrom and husband Tom of North Billerica, Mass.; a sister, Rita E. Halbur of Carroll, Iowa, and a brother, Bernie Steffes of Washington; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Edward, two grandsons, four brothers and three sisters.
