Eugene Edmund Schettler 1901-1992 From the funeral card provided by Sharp Funeral Home Service, Carroll, Iowa Eugene E. Schettler died Saturday, February 22, 1992, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at the age of 90. Eugene was born on December 9, 1901, at Breda, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Emma (Hoebing) Schettler. He married Clara Stork on February 14, 1928, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Carmel, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Breda and Mt. Carmel areas for many years. Eugene founded the Schettler Seed Co. in 1947, which is now part of ICI Seeds of Coon Rapids. He was also an Iowa Mater Pork Produced and an avid antique car collector. He was a member of St. Lawrence4 Parish in Carroll. He is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Irma Fischmeyer, Irene Reynolds, Donna Schettler, Edwin Schettler, Joan Danser, Ruth Mescher, Elmer Schettler, and Melvin Schettler; 38 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Schettler; and sisters, Colette Grote, Marcella Gross, Sister Karen, Sister Lucille, and Rita Lorenz.
