Joseph "Joe" Kohorst 1901-1974

ARCADIA—Joe Kohorst, 72, of Arcadia died at 1:55 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.

Requiem mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's Church here by the Rev. C. A. Ahmann. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll, where the rosary will be recited Monday at 8 and 8:45 p.m.

Mr. Kohorst had been in the hardware and implement business here and farmed until retiring and moving into town 10 years ago. He was born near Arcadia May 23, 1901, a son of J. H. and Bernadine Weber Kohorst, and received his education at Arcadia. He was married to Mary Steinkamp Sept. 22, 1925, at St. Bernard's Church in Breda by the Rev. Joseph Schulte. He was a member of St. John's Church, Arcadia.

Surviving are his wife; four children, (Mrs. Earl (Mae) Schechinger of Adams, Minn., Vern of Arcadia, Mrs. Bill (Jean) Lawler and Mrs. Fenton (Betty) Lawler of Westside; ten grandchildren; three brothers, Henry, Vincent and Leo Kohorst of Arcadia; and four sisters, Mrs. Tony (Mary) Steinkamp of Arcadia, Mrs. Ben (Elizabeth) Wernimont of Elkton, Minn., Mrs. Joe (Anna) Wernimont and Mrs. Walter (Kathryn) Seyller of Carroll. Another sister, three brothers, Bernadie, and Henry, Frank and William, preceded him in death.
